About the Engineering Program

The engineering program at NMHU consists of two programs:

1. Via Engineering Articulation Programs (EAP) with NMSU and NMT, students can pursue any traditional engineering programs including mechanical or electrical engineering. EAP can be a 3+2, 2+2, or any other combination program based on a student.s readiness for college.

2. A BS degree in Computational Engineering

Specific program objectives are:

To train students with the computational and computer visualization background needed to conceptualize, formulate, and solve engineering and scientific problems.
To help students to develop critical thinking skills and be able to use computational methods to conduct simulations and critically evaluate and analyze data.
To develop the speaking and writing skills needed to communicate effectively with professional, as well as non-professional audiences.
To understand and be able to apply teamwork philosophies to address problem-solving situations.
To provide students with the foundation for life-long learning.
To provide students the education and training identified as important by the governmental and private industry employers of New Mexico, region, and the nation.
To provide students with sufficient background to pursue graduate degrees.
